Kildare Volunteer Awards
Kildare Volunteer Centre supports voluntary activity in Kildare by encouraging citizens to play a meaningful role in society and supporting organisations to deliver community projects and programmes.
Kildare Volunteer Centre held its first Volunteer Awards Ceremony at Áras Chill Dara on Thursday 24th March 2022 with five awards presented to volunteers who serve Kildare communities with great commitment and compassion.
The outstanding volunteers honoured on the night were:
- Individual Award: Edel Moore for the SMART Recovery Programme for addictive behaviours.
- Group Award: Athy Community Spirit for supporting elderly and vulnerable community members.
- Special Young Person’s Award: Luke Doogue, Athy for feeding the swans on the Grand Canal and volunteering for local community projects.
- Special Individual Award: Marie Conlon, Newbridge for the 'Stories of Old' Project.
- Special Group Award: Punchestown Testing/Vaccination Volunteers led by John Murray for ongoing emergency support work.
Well done to all who organised and attended this event, especially the exceptional cohort of amazing volunteers.
It was a wonderful showcase for Kildare's community and voluntary sector.
