Burial Grounds

As the civil registration of deaths did not begin until 1864, we must rely on burial records and parish death records where they exist to establish dates of death. Unfortunately, few Catholic parishes maintained records of death or burial in the nineteenth century. Researchers will need to consult surviving headstones, gravestone inscriptions, and registers of grave purchases.

Kildare County Archives holds some interment and purchasers of grave spaces registers. Some collections/documents have access restrictions. Digitised interment registers can be searched and viewed here
