Community Grants

Community Activities Fund 2 - Running / Operating Costs

Kildare LCDC are inviting applications from community and voluntary groups in Kildare for the Community Activities Fund 2022 (CAF) 2 towards their Running/Operating Costs. The Community Activities Fund provides funding to community and voluntary groups and organisations in disadvantaged areas/target disadvantaged groups or respond to COVID-19 priority groups.

The CAF is funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development and administered by the Local Community Development Committees (LCDCs). in each Local Authority area.

Kildare LCDC was allocated funding under this scheme earlier this year. Funding was split a) for use towards running/operating costs and b) capital costs. An open application process took place in January and €219,744.28 was approved for allocation. However, €76,282.72 under running costs was not allocated. This was due to not having sufficient applications completing the form satisfactorily for example, no evidence of bills.

There is now a last opportunity for community and voluntary groups in Kildare to apply for the remaining funding of €76,282.72. Applications must be towards running/operating costs.

The aim of CAF 2022 is to provide grants towards:

  • Running costs such as utility bills (electricity costs, refuse charges, heating charges) or other operating costs for e.g., rental/lease costs, insurance bills. Staffing related costs are not eligible
  • Applicants must base their application on running costs already incurred between 1st July 2021 to 30th June 2022 only. Therefore, these grants will be given on running costs already incurred only.
