Biodiversity

In addition to providing the local community with space to thrive, Kerdiffstown Park is home to a variety of plants and wildlife.

  • Kerdiffstown Park’s 3 ponds provide the perfect haven for aquatic animals including frogs, swans, ducks, dragon flies and many more! Several aquatic plants also live in the Park’s ponds.
  • Seeds of over 10 native wildflowers have been spread in the Park’s Wildflower Meadow. Wildflowers including Yarrow, Meadow Buttercup and Crested Dogstail provide a habitat and food for pollinators like bees and butterflies.
  • Over 150 trees and 5500 woodland & hedgerow whips have been planted in Kerdiffstown Park including Birch, Oak, Hazel, Blackthorn and Holly. These trees not only provide food and shelter for the park’s wildlife but they also improve air quality and absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
  • Kerdiffstown Park’s vast and tranquil green spaces make the perfect environment for all sorts of wildlife – from butterflies, birds, bugs, bats and lots more!
