Kildare County Council advises of Grant Scheme for Domestic Waste Water Treatment Systems (DWWTS)
13th March 2025: Kildare County Council wishes to advise owners of Domestic Waste Water Treatments Systems about the DWWTS Grant Scheme. This scheme aims to assist householders with 85% of the cost of works, up to a maximum of €12,000, for the remediation, repair, upgrade or replacement of a DWWTS, subject to the eligibility criteria below.
Eligibility Criteria:
- The householder receives an Advisory Notice, following a failed local authority inspection carried out under the EPA DWWTS National Inspection Plan.
- The house is situated in a Prioritised Area for Action, as detailed under the River Basin Management Plan for Ireland.
- Or, the house is situated in a High-Status Objective Catchment Area, as detailed under the River Basin Management Plan for Ireland.
Please note that grants will not be paid towards the normal costs of ensuring a system is working properly, such as maintaining, servicing or de-sludging a domestic waste water treatment system.
The DWWTS Grant Schemes are set out under the below regulations which came into effect on 1st January 2024:

- Housing (Domestic Waste Water Treatment Systems Grant for High Status Objective Catchment Areas) Regulations 2023 (S.I. No. 564 of 2023)
