Kildare County Council Signs Energy Performance Contract for Áras Chill Dara, K Leisure Athy and K Leisure Naas
Kildare County Council has signed a contract appointing Lawler Sustainability as the Energy Services Company to deliver an Energy Performance Contract for Áras Chill Dara, K Leisure Athy and K Leisure Naas. This appointment follows an extensive Competitive Dialogue procurement process alongside Codema Energy Agency and the Mid-East Energy Unit.
The project will involve significant decarbonisation works and optimisation of energy usage for the buildings identified as having the highest energy consumption in the Kildare County Council portfolio - Áras Chill Dara and the K Leisure swimming pool facilities. Lawler Sustainability will implement energy-saving upgrades that will guarantee energy reduction over an eight year service period.
The project is part funded by the SEAI Pathfinder Programme and will assist in meeting the Public Sector 2030 targets of a 51% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and a 50% improvement in energy efficiency over defined baseline periods.
Speaking at the contract signing, the Cathaoirleach of the County of Kildare, Cllr Carmel Kelly said: “This contract represents a positive step forward in improving the energy efficiency of key Kildare County Council buildings. Projects such as this one demonstrate how local authorities can take meaningful action on climate change while improving the quality and efficiency of public facilities.”
