New Natural Play Area opened in Liffey Linear Park, Newbridge by Kildare County Council
Kildare County Council is pleased to announce the opening of a brand new, natural play area in Liffey Linear Park, Newbridge. The play area is designed to provide a fun and stimulating environment for children of all ages and abilities, while promoting interaction with nature.
The Natural Play Area boasts a variety of exciting features designed to encourage imaginative and active play in a natural setting, including:
- Stone boulders for climbing and informal seating
- A sand play area with a fixed table for digging and building
- A mound with a tunnel for climbing and exploring
- Climbing logs and structures for testing strength and agility
- Stepping posts for developing balance and coordination
- A contoured, grassed mound for running and playing
The playground was designed in consultation with the local community to ensure it meets the needs of the residents of Newbridge. Situated in the green area adjacent to the current Fairy Trail, Liffey Linear Park has become an even more attractive destination for families.
Speaking on the opening day of the Natural Play Area at Linear Park, Newbridge, Sonya Kavanagh, Chief Executive, Kildare County Council said “Our goal is to give children an opportunity to appreciate and understand the natural world through exploration and creative play. We want families and children to engage with nature while they discover this new Natural Play Area along with the existing Fairy Trail.”
Mayor of Kildare/Newbridge Municipal District, Cllr Peggy O Dwyer said; “This newly created play space is just the beginning for the Newbridge area. I hope that this new feature will benefit all the children, both local and those who are visiting. This equipment really helps to generate creative thinking and get children, of all abilities, out playing. It's here for families to discover as they go on a stroll and enjoy the surrounding areas”.
Kildare County Council believes that play is essential for the healthy development of children, and this new Natural Play Area will provide a much-needed space for children to explore, learn, and grow.
The new play area is now open to the public. Kildare County Council invites everyone to come and explore this wonderful new addition to Liffey Linear Park.
