Maps

The Local Studies collections includes an extensive collection of maps. The collection includes:

  • Historic Ordnance Survey maps (including c. 1910, c. 1939)
  • Large-scale town plans and maps of larger urban settlements in County Kildare
  • Original hand-coloured maps produced for the Bog Commissioners c. 1810-1814
  • Re-productions of William Petty's Hiberniae Delineatio 17th century, Noble & Keenan c. 1752, Alexander Taylor's 1783 map of County Kildare and others.
  • Maps in miscellaneous publications. This includes re-productions of historic maps in the Journals of the County Kildare Archaeological Society, railway maps including the Official Railway Map of Ireland (1918), maps of the Curragh and other geographic locations throughout County Kildare.
