Local Improvement Scheme (LIS)
Scheme for the Funding of Improvement Works on Private Roads
Kildare County Council (KCC) invites applications for funding under the Local Improvement Scheme (LIS). The LIS is a scheme to support the improvement of small non-public rural roads not normally maintained by KCC.
There are a number of changes in the qualifying criteria for the scheme - only one parcel of land serviced by the road needs to be engaged in agricultural activities. In addition, amenity roads leading to important community amenities such as graveyards and tourist attractions are also eligible.
All applications must meet the criteria and conditions as set out by the Department of Rural and Community Development (DRCD). Landowners, occupiers and farmers who have access to the road will be required to make a small local contribution and the DRCD will provide balance of funding.
To be considered for funding, you must assess your eligibility by reading the guidelines for this scheme as set out by KCC who administer the scheme. All applications for consideration under the 2024-2025 funding allocation must be submitted to Kildare County Council no later than Friday, 24 May 2024.
