Historic Thatch Buildings (HTB) Grant Scheme 2027
Applications are now invited from owners of historic thatch buildings in need of thatching works to the roof and other necessary work that must be completed as part of these works, such as chimney repairs.
- Following formal approval by the Department, Local Authorities shall notify successful applicants by February 2027. The Notification shall set out the level of funding approved, the timeline for the completion of works, and the terms and conditions of the award.
- A Method Statement is to be submitted with the application for funding in respect of all projects. A method statement is a summary plan of the works intended to be carried out. The method statement can be completed by a Contractor, Architect or Conservation Professional engaged to carry out the work or whoever has provided the quote to undertake the works. The length and detail of the method statement will vary depending on the type of works being applied for.

Completed application forms accompanied by;
- a quotation(s) for the proposed works,
- photos of the existing structure showing the area of proposed works and
- any other supporting documents eg. Method Statement
