Building on structures and relationships developed during the operation of the Community Call response to COVID-19, the Community Response fora was repurposed in 2022 in response to the Ukraine Crisis. In 2024, with the rollout of the new expanded integration remit in the local authorities, the role of the forum moved from a temporary response to the Ukraine crisis to a longer term, more sustainable structure, expanding to international protection applicants, persons with status and programme refugees.

The Community Integration Forum was established in May 2024 to enhance information sharing, collaboration and coordination among service providers to maximise integration supports outcomes. There are 14 members representing statutory and non-statutory organisations. Kildare County Council is responsible for chairing and supporting the operation of the Community Integration Forum. The role of the Community Integration Forum is reflected in the Kildare Local Community Development Committee (LCDC) Action 1.7.7.
