Temporary Closing of Roads

Kildare County Council, on behalf of Uisce Éireann, gives notice in accordance with Section 75 of the Roads Act, 1993 and the Roads Regulations, 1994 that it intends to close the following road for no more than 4 weeknights during the period commencing Monday, 25 March 2024 to Friday, 5 April 2024 to facilitate permanent reinstatement.
Planned works are programmed to take place for 3 to 4 calendar weeknights. Advance notification of start date will be provided. Road will be closed each evening at 8:30 p.m. and opened each morning from 6:30 a.m. for full traffic to pass.
Only one road closure will be in operation at any one time.

Alternative Routes: Westbound vehicles on the R403 from Lucan/M4 will be diverted right at Young’s Cross on to the R404 Barnhall/Leixlip Road. They will continue for 3km before turning left onto the R148 Maynooth Road at Galvin’s Cross for 1.5km. Traffic will then be directed left at the roundabout on to the R449, over the M4 motorway for 3km towards Celbridge. At the roundabout traffic will be directed left on to the R405 for 2.5km towards Celbridge Main Street and the Liffey Bridge where the diversion will end. Eastbound vehicles from Clane, Ardclough Road and Hazelhatch Road will be diverted on to Celbridge Main Street (R405) and continue onto the Maynooth Road for 2.5km. At the roundabout, traffic will be directed right on to the R449, over the M4 motorway towards Leixlip for 3km. Traffic will then be directed right at the roundabout on to the R148 for 1.5km. At Galvin’s Cross traffic will be directed right on to the R404 towards Celbridge for 3km as far as Young’s Cross where the diversion will end. |
Diversionary routes, will be clearly signposted, as agreed with the Council and An Garda Síochána. Emergency access and restricted local access will be maintained.
Any objections/observations should be lodged in writing to the A/Senior Executive Officer, Transport, Mobility and Open Spaces, Kildare County Council, Áras Chill Dara, Devoy Park, Naas, Co. Kildare or directly on the consultation portal at https://consult.kildarecoco.ie/en on or before 5:00 p.m. on Friday, 01 March 2024.
