The Members and Staff of Kildare County Council wish everyone a safe and happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year.
Our essential services will continue in operation throughout the Christmas and New Year holiday period. Some services will be subject to restrictions, details below.
We encourage our customers to conduct business using the following methods.

Building Control
The BCMS will be closed to the submission of Commencement Notices, 7 Day Notices and Applications (Fire Safety Certificates, Disability Access Certificates, Dispensations and Relaxations, including Further Information or Revised Information) from 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, 19 December 2023 to 12:01 a.m. on Tuesday, 2 January 2024.
Certificates of Compliance on Completion will not be added to the Register between Tuesday, 19 December 2023 and Tuesday, 2 January 2024, and you should bear this in mind when submitting a prior notification of completion.

Parking Enforcement
Celbridge, Leixlip, Maynooth, Kildare Town and Newbridge |
There will be no suspension of Pay Parking in these towns. Normal parking enforcement will continue over the Christmas period. |
Naas |
There will be no suspension of Pay Parking in Naas except in all Kildare County Council car parks (New Row Car Park, Fair Green Car Park, Abbey Street Car Park and Hedermans Car Park) where there will be free parking from 9:30 a.m. on Friday, 1 December 2023 to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, 30 December 2023. Illegal parking will continue to be enforced in all areas over the Christmas period. |
Athy |
There will be free parking in Athy from 8:30 a.m. on Friday, 1 December 2023 to 6:30 p.m. on Friday, 29 December 2023. Illegal parking will continue to be enforced in all areas over the Christmas period. |
Parking Fine Payments and Parking Appeals
Parking Fine Payments: Payment systems for fines issued on or after Saturday, 23 December 2023 will not be available at the cash office, Athy Municipal District Office, or on-line until Thursday, 28 December 2023. After this date, payments return to normal. Parking Appeals and Appeal Queries: Parking Fine Appeals and Queries can be submitted by logging onto https://kildare.apcoa.ie/ by post or during opening hours, in person at the Roads and Transportation public counter. Christmas Tree Recycling:
Christmas trees can be brought for shredding as mulch to the following locations from Wednesday, 3 – Sunday, 21 January 2024.
- Athy - Meeting Lane carpark
- Celbridge - Interchange yard
- Clane - GAA club
- Maynooth - Council Depot (beside Fire Station)
- Monasterevin - Moore Abbey carpark
- Naas – Fairgreen
- Newbridge - Council Nursery (accessible heading towards Naas - follow signs)
Glass and can recycling banks will be serviced over the Christmas period.
These sites may be busier than usual, and if they are full, we kindly ask that you do not leave any waste beside the banks.
