Kildare County Council Signs Declaration on Public Service Innovation
Pledging commitment to supporting new ways of delivering services
Kildare County Council has signed the Declaration on Public Service Innovation in Ireland, declaring continued commitment to embracing innovation as one of the ways that we can achieve our goals and deliver effective public services for our citizens.
Embracing innovation within Kildare County Council is about finding new or different ways of delivering services that can add value to the people of Kildare, including designing services to be more effective, accessible and simpler.
The six key actions of the declaration are to:
- Further endorse innovation as the responsibility of every public servant
- Enable, support, inform and equip our public servants to innovate in their roles
- Cultivate new partnerships and involve diverse views in problem-solving and designing and delivering our public services
- Generate multiple options for existing and potential problems through exploration, experimentation, iteration and testing
- Provide insights into our experiences, best practices and lessons learned with other public servants in Ireland and abroad
- Share knowledge and data with citizens in an open and transparent way
By opting to sign the Declaration, Kildare County Council is pledging continued commitment to supporting our staff to innovate in their everyday roles, cultivate new partnerships, share best practice and include diverse views when designing and delivering services.
Speaking at the signing of the Innovation Declaration, Kildare County Council Chief Executive, Sonya Kavanagh, said: “I am delighted to sign this declaration which reaffirms our commitment to realise new ways of working that deliver effective public services for the people of Kildare.”
“Recent events remind us that we are often required to pivot dramatically and quickly change how we serve our public. We have demonstrated our resilience, commitment and willingness to innovate in responding to these unprecedented and complex challenges. We will continue to innovate, to adapt, be creative and collaborate to deliver high quality services for all our stakeholders.”
