Notice Pursuant to: Section 177AE of the Planning and Development Act 2000 (as amended) and the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 (as amended)
Proposed Widening and Rehabilitation of O’Hanrahan Bridge over the River Barrow in New Ross, Co. Wexford
Notice of Application to An Bord Pleanála.
Notice is hereby given that Kildare County Council, through a Section 85 Agreement (Local Government Act, 2001) with Wexford County Council, intends to make an application for approval to An Bord Pleanála to carry out a proposed development on the R723, O’Hanrahan Bridge, in the townlands of New Ross and Rosbercon, in the County of Wexford.
The proposed development would be composed of:
- Widening the existing O’Hanrahan Bridge by approximately 1m on the downstream side.
- Alterations to the existing quay walls at the southeast and southwest corners of the bridge.
- Rehabilitation and renewal works to the existing bridge.
Kildare County Council proposes to seek approval of An Bord Pleanála for the proposed development under Section 177AE of the Planning and Development Acts 2000 to 2018.
A Natura Impact Statement has been prepared in respect of the proposed development.
An Bord Pleanála may give approval to the application for development with or without conditions or may refuse the application for development.
The Natura Impact Statement, Environmental Impact Assessment, Planning Report, Appropriate Assessment Screening Reports together with a copy of the plans and particulars of the proposed development will be available for inspection free of charge or may be purchased on payment of a small fee (which fee shall not exceed the reasonable cost of making such a copy) between Wednesday, 22 March 2023 and Friday, 5 May 2023 (inclusive of both dates) at the following locations:

Submissions and observations may be made to An Bord Pleanála on the proposed development in relation to -
The implications of the proposed development for proper planning andsustainable development in the area concerned,
- The likely effects on the environment of the proposed development, and
- The likely significant effects of the proposed development on a European Site,if carried out.
Submissions and observations should only be made in writing to An Bord Pleanála, 64 Marlborough Street, Dublin, D01 V902 on or before 4:30 p.m. on Friday, 5 May 2023.
A person may question the validity of any such decision by An Bord Pleanála by way of an application for judicial review under Order 84 of the Rules of the Superior Courts (S.I. No. 15 of 1986) in accordance with section 50 of the Planning and Development Acts, 2000 to 2015.
