Kildare County Council Awarded Two Green Flag Awards
Kildare County Council welcomed the news that both Newbridge Linear Park and Rathcoffey Zero Waste Community Garden were awarded Green Flags by An Taisce at the 2023 Green Flag Awards.
This is the 7th year running that Newbridge Linear Park have been awarded a Green Flag and the 4th year for Rathcoffey Zero Waste Community Garden.
The awards benchmark excellence in the management of green spaces that are accessible to the public. 150 parks were awarded flags around Europe, with Ireland leading the way with 101 parks. The programme uses eight key criteria, with an emphasis on environmental management..
Speaking about the awards, Simon Wallace, Senior Parks and Landscaping Officer, Kildare County Council said; “Congratulations to everyone involved. The continued success in the Green Flag awards reflects the importance of collaboration and the efforts of everyone involved. In particular, the great work carried out by Newbridge Tidy Towns group and the Rathcoffey Zero Waste Garden Committee, and their commitment to the maintenance of these Green Flag sites.”
