Major Bridge Rehabilitation works on M7, Newhall Overbridge
Works include the construction of new shared cycleway & footway
Kildare County Council wish to advise that essential bridge rehabilitation works are expected to commence at the M7, Newhall Overbridge on the 27th September 2023.
The Major bridge rehabilitation works, which are being funded by Transport Infrastructure Ireland, will consist of bridge deck re-waterproofing, resurfacing and parapet upgrades work. A shared cycleway & footway is also being constructed to facilitate a future active travel route across the M7 motorway.
To facilitate the works, a road closure in one direction only, will be in place. Traffic wishing to travel north over the bridge towards Newbridge/Rathangan/M7 Business Park will be able to do so as normal. Traffic wishing to travel towards Naas over the bridge will be required to take an alternative route.
Traffic wishing to travel South-east on the L2030 over the M7, Newhall Road Overbridge towards Naas will be diverted from the junction of the L2006/L2030 (‘Floods Cross’) where it shall turn right onto the L2006. Traffic shall continue south on the L2006 to its junction with the R445 (Newbridge/Naas Road). Traffic shall then turn left onto the R445 and continue on the R445 (towards Naas) for approximately 1.6km to the ‘Bundle of Sticks’ roundabout where the diversion ends.
It is envisaged that works will be complete by the end of December 2023.
Kildare County Council would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience that may be caused as a consequence of these essential bridge rehabilitation works.
