The Healthy Ireland Framework was launched in 2013 and articulates goals for improved health and wellbeing across the Country, under this framework Kildare County Council on behalf of Kildare LCDC made an application to Pobal for Healthy Ireland Round 4.
The application was approved and the Healthy Ireland Round 4 Grant Agreement was signed on the 2nd of June 2023 for funding totalling €158,122.42 for County Kildare to 2025.
There are 3 High Level Goals proposed to achieve our Vision for a Healthy Kildare where; ‘everyone can enjoy physical and mental health and wellbeing to their full potential, where wellbeing is valued and supported at every level of society and is everyone’s responsibility’
1) Develop programmes to improve overall health and wellbeing and support the most at risk groups in Kildare.
2) Raise awareness and provide training programmes to build capacity of both members of the community and professionals in Kildare.
3) Improve sustainability and longevity of programmes by encouraging active travel and providing training for trainers.
There have been two priority areas selected as part of this agreement: Wellbeing and Lifestyle and Behaviour Risk. These priorties will underpin the range of activities and programmes in Kildare for the next two years.
