Candidate Nomination Information:
Candidate Nomination period has now closed, please see our Advertising area to see a list of candidates running for the Local Elections 2024.
The Candidate Nominations period will be between 11th May and 18th May 2024.
Kildare County Council will operate a booking system for candidates to attend, by appointment, with nomination papers. Candidates should email localelections2024@kildarecoco.ie to receive a booking link to make an appointment.
In the meantime, candidates should familiarise themselves with the paperwork in advance of the nominations period.

Candidate Guides
Candidates are strongly advised to read the Canvassing and Voter Registration Guide, produced by Kildare County Council. It aims to assist candidates while canvassing and can be used to inform electors.

The booklet “How Members of Local Authorities are Elected” available in English and Irish, which gives details on candidate eligibility, the nomination process, the Poll and Count process, and information on expenditure and donations.

There are a range of social enterprises active in supporting female political participation and candidacy including Women for Election and See Her Elected
Kildare County Council has applied for funding under a government grant scheme to promote political participation by women and people of diversity for the local elections.
