How to apply for a transfer - Local Authority Tenant
To apply for a transfer, please complete a transfer application form (only if you are an existing Tenant of the Local Authority (LA). You can access the application form for a transfer here or the form can be posted out to you on request. The criteria for a Transfer application is outlined in Kildare County Council’s Allocation Scheme here.
If you are a tenant of an Approved Housing Body (AHB) you should contact the relevant body to discuss your options.
What is my place on the housing transfer list?
As per Kildare County Council’s Allocation Policy, applicants for social housing will be considered having regard to the period which has elapsed since they were included on the transfer housing list, this is known as ‘time on the list’ and subject to the availability of a suitable property. In certain circumstances, overall priority may be given to applicants who satisfy the criteria as per our Allocations Policy. See link below for Allocations Policy.

Can I transfer my housing application from a different County Council to Kildare?
No. You can only be on one Local Authority Housing List at any time.
You cannot transfer your application. You would have to apply to Kildare County Council as a new applicant and you would lose any time accumulated on a previous Local Authority list. It is advisable not to close your application with another County until you are deemed eligible to apply to Kildare.
