Can I apply for job vacancies with my CV?

No. As a local authority there is specific information that we require from all candidates and so we are not able to accept CV's.  You may only apply through the Council’s website at Our Recruitment Page.

How do I find out about vacancies in Kildare County Council?

The competitions for senior managerial and senior professional positions are held by the Public Appointments Service (PAS) on the Council's behalf, details of which are found on www.publicjobs.ie.

What is the Candidate Information Booklet?

A Candidate Information Booklet is published for each position advertised. This booklet contains details of the role, including the required qualifications, competencies, working hours, salary etc. It is recommended that candidates read this booklet before applying and while also preparing for interviews.

What happens after I complete a job application form online?

All applications for positions in Kildare County Council are assessed for eligibility, i.e., to ensure they meet the qualifications listed for the position in the Candidate Information Booklet.

 

A shortlisting process often take place depending on the number of positions available and the number of applications received. Shortlisting is based on the information provided by you on your application form and how relevant it is to the role applied for. This means the information you provide for your education and work history is critical, as it is the only information that will be considered in the shortlisting process.

 

Candidates who are found to be eligible for the role and shortlisted [if shortlisting takes place], will be called for interview. All these take a few weeks.

Do I require a valid Irish licence to apply for job vacancies with Kildare County Council?

Not all jobs require a valid licence. However, for those jobs that require a valid licence, candidates who go ahead to apply without a valid Irish licence will be deemed ineligible for the competition.

It is possible to exchange licenses issued from other countries to an Irish Licence. The lists of non-Irish licences that can be exchanged for an Irish Licence are available Here. The onus is on Candidates to confirm their eligibility for exchange.

What are Competency Interviews?

A competency interview is structured in a way that allows the interview board to establish the extent to which each candidate demonstrates specific skills areas (competencies) during an interview. The competencies are identified as the essential knowledge, skills, behaviours, and attributes for the role in question.

All candidates eligible for interview will be advised in the Candidate Information Booklet of the relevant competencies for the position before their interview. Different competencies may be used depending on the role being interviewed for.
