Environment

From 1st July 2010, commercial food waste can no longer go to landfill. The food waste must be source segregated and treated in an authorised treatment facility. The food waste regulations apply to producers of food waste who are producing more than 50kg of food waste per week and such producers are required to comply with the regulations by 1st July 2010.  These conditions are contained in the Waste Management (Food Waste) Regulations 2009.

Please note after 1st July 2011, all premises where food is produced including those producing less than 50kg per week will be required to segregate food waste in a separate bin.
