Social Inclusion & Community Activation Programme (SICAP)

SICAP 2024 - 2028 is a social inclusion programme that focuses on the most marginalised members of Irish society. The programme provides funding to tackle poverty and social exclusion at a local level, through local engagement and partnerships between disadvantaged individuals, community organisations and public sector agencies. SICAP targets the most disadvantaged individuals and communities across the county by providing direct supports linking the most excluded into existing services.  The SICAP Programme is funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development with co-funding from the European Social Fund Plus with a budget in Kildare of at least €8 million over the next five years.

Variant 2

SICAP 2024-2028 will be overseen and monitored by Kildare LCDC and implemented by County Kildare LEADER Partnership CLG.  SICAP is informed by the Kildare LECP plan and responds to priority social inclusion issues highlighted in the county.  For further information on SICAP activities, please visit www.countykildarelp.ie

SICAP is underpinned by 4 horizontal themes:

1. Promoting a human rights and equality framework, with a particular focus on gender equality and anti-discrimination.

2. Applying quality community development approaches to achieve the participation of disadvantaged and marginalised communities in society and combatting poverty as an obstacle to social inclusion and economic progression.

3. Developing collaborative approaches with stakeholders to identify and fill gaps in services for target groups and improve how mainstream policies and programmes are delivered so they impact more positively on the socially excluded.

4. Promoting Climate Justice, with a focus on facilitating a just and equitable transition to a greener economy and society.
